What are rods and cones in the retina of an eye? Why is our night vision relatively poor compared t the night vision of an owl?

The cells in the retina of an eye are called rods and cones. Rods are cells that have a rod form and are sensitive to low light. Cones are light-sensitive cones that are cone-shaped. Humans have a lower night vision than owls due to a lower number of rod cells in their retina.
