Ultraviolet radiations are electromagnetic waves with wavelengths between 100\(\overset{\circ }{\mathop{A}}\,\) to 4000\(\overset{\circ }{\mathop{A}}\,\)

Detection: If a silver chloride solution is subjected to electromagnetic wavelengths ranging from red to violet and beyond, it can be detected. The solution appears to be almost unchanged from the red end to the violet end. However, beyond the violet end, the solution first turns violet, then dark brown. As a result, there are some radiations that are chemically more active than visible light beyond the violet end of the spectrum. Ultraviolet radiations are the name for these types of rays.

Ultraviolet rays are used to test the cleanliness of jewels, eggs, and ghee, among other things.
