Unit III: Geometry

The weightage for geometry is 15 marks and includes topics like lines and angles, triangles, circles, Etc.

  • Prove and explain different properties of line, parallel lines, Intersecting lines, lines making an angle, Etc.
  • Prove the theorem that the sum of all the angles of a triangle is 180 degrees.
  • Prove the statement that two lines intersecting each other vertically opposite angles are equal.
  • Prove the statement that two triangles are congruent if the included side of one triangle is equal to the hypotenuse and the side of the other triangle.
  • Prove different properties of a triangle like equal sides, angles, hypotenuse, Etc.
  • Prove the properties of a chord, radius, circumference, diameter, arc, secant, subtended angle, sector.
  • Prove that equal chords of a circle subtend equal angles at the center of the circle
  • Through a given three non-collinear points, only one circle can pass through these points.
  • Angles that are formed in the same circle are equal.
  • Prove and explain different types of triangles, properties of triangles, Etc.
  • Define and explain circles and concepts related to a circle.

Unit IV: Mensuration

The weightage for mensuration is 14 marks. Mensuration involves finding surface area, volume, area, Etc.

  • Finding the area of a triangle using Heron’s Formula and explaining its application.
  • Finding surface area and volume for shapes like cuboids, cubes, cylinders, cones, spheres, Etc.

Unit V: Probability

The weightage for probability is 04 marks. This unit focuses on defining probability, random experiments, experiments from real-life scenarios, repeat experiments, Etc.

Project Work Syllabus of UP Board Class 9 Maths

The project work holds a weightage of 30 marks divided into internal assessment and the actual project work. Each carries 15 marks.

  • The internal assessment is viva voce and is advised to ask questions from the book Bharat ka Paramparagat Ganit Gyan for class 9th

For project work, students are given a list of projects by the teachers. A student should select two projects from the list for their project work. Another alternative could be teachers can provide one topic per their level, and the second topic can be selected from the list by the student. The following gives the list of the project to be prepared by the student:

  • In architecture and construction, study the role of different geometric shapes.
  • Illustrate any one of the mathematicians from medieval India like Shridharacharya, Aryabatt, Mahaviracharya, Etc. Explain their life and their contribution to mathematics.
  • Give information about the discovery of Pi.
  • Illustrate the income and expenditure by presenting the budget of your home.
  • To perform functional identities on algebraic identities : (a+b)2 = a2 +2ab+b2, (a-b)2 = a2 -2ab+b2.
  • Study the different types of bank account opened and the interest rates applied to them.
  • Use chart paper or cardboard to make different shapes and mention their features.
  • Use number lines and represent rational numbers on them.
  • To illustrate the relation between weight and height by performing a survey on the students in your class.
  • Select three markets from the newspaper and perform the comparative analysis of the prices of gains.
  • Performing any three parts from the recommended book: Bharat ka Paramparagat Ganit Gyan
