Two identical cubes each of volume 64 cm3 are joined together end to end. What is the surface area of the resulting cuboid?
Two identical cubes each of volume 64 cm3 are joined together end to end. What is the surface area of the resulting cuboid?

NCERT Exemplar Class 10 Maths Chapter 12 Ex. 12.3 Question 5

Let the side of one block = a

Surfaces space of coming about cuboid = 2(Total surface space of a block) – 2(area of single surface)

We realize that,

All out surface space of solid shape = 6a2 , where a = side of 3D square ⇒ Surfaces space of coming about cuboid = 2(6a2) – 2(a2) = 10a2

Too,

As per the inquiry,

Volume of 3D shape = 64 cm3

Volume of 3D shape = a3

64 = a3

a = 4 cm

Consequently,

Surface space of coming about cuboid = 10a2 = 10(4)2 = 160 cm2
