Two cones with same base radius 8 cm and height 15 cm are joined together along their bases. Find the surface area of the shape so formed.
Two cones with same base radius 8 cm and height 15 cm are joined together along their bases. Find the surface area of the shape so formed.

As per the inquiry,

We get the figure given underneath,

NCERT Exemplar Class 10 Maths Chapter 12 Ex. 12.3 Question 7

We realize that,

Complete surface space of shape framed = Curved space of first cone + Curved surface space of second cone

Since, the two cones are indistinguishable,

We have,

All out surface space of shape framed = Curved space of first cone + Curved surface space of the subsequent cone

= 2(Surface space of cone)

We additionally realize that,

Surface space of cone = πrl, where r = range and l = incline stature

What’s more, the absolute Surface space of shape so framed = 2πrl

Given in the inquiry that,

Range, r = 8 cm

Tallness, h = 15 cm

Consequently,

Region = Curved space of first cone + Curved surface space of the subsequent cone

= 2 (Surface space of the cone)

\[=\text{ }2\text{ }\times \text{ }\pi rl\]

\[=\text{ }2\text{ }\times \text{ }\pi \text{ }\times \text{ }r\text{ }\times \text{ }\surd \left( r2\text{ }+\text{ }h2 \right)\]

\[=\text{ }2\text{ }\times \text{ }\left( 22/7 \right)\text{ }\times \text{ }8\text{ }\times \text{ }\surd \left( 82\text{ }+\text{ }152 \right)\]

\[=\text{ }50.28\text{ }\times \text{ }\surd 289\]

= 854.85 cm2

= 855 cm2 (approx)

Consequently, the surface space of shape so framed is 855cm2.
