Identical springs of steel and copper are equally stretched. On which, more work will have to be to done?

Answer:

When identical steel and copper springs are stretched equally, force is given as:

$ W\alpha \Delta l $

Because the springs are the same, their length and area will likewise be equivalent.

$ \Delta l\alpha \frac{l}{Y} $

From both the equations, it can be said that :

$ \frac{{{W}_{steel}}}{{{W}_{copper}}}=\frac{{{Y}_{copper}}}{{{Y}_{steel}}} $

$ \Rightarrow {{W}_{steel}}<{{W}_{copper}} $
