ICSE Class 9 Chemistry Mark-Distribution Scheme:
The ICSE Class 9 Chemistry previous year question paper 2021 is for two hours. It consists of theory and practical-based questions. The theory part consists of 80 marks, and the internal assessment consists of 20 marks. The internal assessment gets divided into sections.

ICSE Class 9 Chemistry Exam Pattern:
The exam pattern helps students understand and prepare the type of questions they can expect from each chapter. It guides students to focus on the chapter that holds a high weightage. The question paper of Class 9 Chemistry gets segregated into two parts with an equal weightage of 40 marks each. The first section of the question paper consists of short answer-type questions. These questions are selected from the entire syllabus. So, students are required to prepare short answer-type questions from each chapter. The second section of the question paper consists of six questions, and students are required to attempt four(4) questions out of the six(6) questions. These four questions are of 10 marks each, making a total of 40 marks.

ICSE Class 9 Chemistry question paper helps students prepare the most crucial topics for the next academic year. It allows students to focus on the topics and concepts that are most likely to come in exams.
Approach to solve the questions:
The exam paper gets distributed into two(2) sections, Section A and Section B. Section A consists of various questions, like MCQs, Fill in the Blanks, One-word Questions, and short answer type questions. The MCQ question consists of four options. Students will have to select the right option by solving the problem. It might have atomic structure, the periodic table, and elements topics. They are generally easy questions. So, students should start with the MCQ questions first.
Once students complete these questions, they can move on to the next part of Section A, which includes fill-in blanks. A couple of questions might consist of diagrammatic representations, and students will have to solve the chemistry equations to answer the question. They are also easy compared to other questions.
Section A also consists of short answer-type questions of 1 and 2 marks each. They are easy to attempt. So, overall, we can say that Section A is easy, and students can secure good marks if they perform well in Section A.
Section B of the question paper consists of long answer-type questions of 10 marks each. Students will get a choice to attempt only four(4) questions out of six(6) questions. The question will be lengthy and require the most time to solve the equations or answer the question. Students should attempt this section after completing Section A, but they can attempt it first if they are confident in the long questions. The last section usually gets based on practical calculations and lengthy problems.
