Specific heat capacity (c) of water is 4.2 J g-1 K-1
Specific latent heat of fusion (L) of ice is 336 J g-1
In order to calculate the heat energy, we will use the following expression –
Q = m × c × (change in temperature)
Therefore, using above expression the amount of heat energy released when 5.0 g of water at 200 C changes into water at 00 C is
= 5 × 4.2 × 20 = 420 J

The heat energy released when 5.0 g of water at 0 degrees C changes into ice at 0 degrees C
