How do you tune your radio set to a particular station? Name the phenomenon involved in doing so and define it.

To tune a radio receiver, we simply change the settings of the electrical components such that vibrations of the same frequency as the radio waves we wish to receive are produced. Due to resonance, when both frequencies match, the energy of the signal at that frequency is received from the incoming waves. The signal is amplified in the receiver set once it is received.

This phenomena is a type of forced vibrations that is related with resonance. When the frequency of an externally applied periodic force equals the inherent frequency of a body, the body begins to vibrate with greater amplitude. Resonance is the term for this phenomena.
