The leaves of certain plants show water droplets on their sides in the morning. This is especially true for plants that grow in humid climates.
The moist environment interferes with breathing while the roots continue to absorb water from the soil.
This creates a great hydrostatic pressure inside the plant and “forces” excess water directly from the leaf veins.
Special pore-carrying structures called hydathodes are located at the edges of the leaf to allow for this space.
