Why do the farmers fill their fields with water on a cold winter night?

Solution:

If the air temperature drops below 0 C on a cold winter night, water in the fine capillaries of plants freezes. It causes the veins to burst due to the increase in volume of water caused by freezing. Plants will die as a result, and the crop will be destroyed. Farmers fill their fields with water to save their crops on such cold nights since water has a high specific heat capacity. It does not allow the temperature in the surrounding area of plants to dip below 0 degrees Celsius.
