Describe some experiment to show that the magnetic field is associated with an electric current.

Answer:

As illustrated in the illustration, a thick insulated copper wire AB runs north-south. Under the copper wire AB is a plotting compass M. A switch connects both ends of the cable to the battery. When no current flows, the compass needle is parallel to AB. The needle deflects slightly as current flows through wire AB. So the needle deflection detects the magnetic field associated with an electric current.
